Cooling off in a healthy way, swimming and tips for summer with your dog

BEACH PLEASE

In June everything revolves around healthy cooling, swimming and tips for summer with a dog.

The cool wet

Nothing is more natural on a hot summer's day than spending the day by the water with our beloved four-legged friends. After all, it not only promises a good mood and a change from the usual walk, but one thing above all: cooling down. When visiting a lake, river or sea, however, there are a few things to consider.

Slow acclimatization to temperature differences

Dogs regulate their temperature with paws and panting. It is incredibly important, especially on particularly hot days, the four-legged friends langsam to get used to the cool water. Like us humans, they can go into shock if the cold is too sudden. So cool paws first, then the rest.

And then, full throttle into the water!?

Swimming is healthy. Easy on the joints, good for muscle building and fun. However, please note that not all dogs are born safe swimmers. Listen to your feelings and always only ask for so much that you don't overwhelm your dog. So our tip: initially tie the swimming toy to a little rope or attach it to your biothane leash (or tow leash). This way the toy doesn't drift too far and you actively control how far your fur nose goes into the water. Incidentally, the lighthouse is perfect for this, and its construction also reduces excessive swallowing of water when packing the toy. This can quickly become dangerous, especially in salt water. If you are an unsure swimmer or a non-swimmer, we also recommend wearing a life jacket.

Swim, drink, rest

Having fun makes you tired. Swimming makes you tired. Taking a break in between is important. Always provide your darling with enough drinking water and make sure that he drinks enough drinking water, especially on the beach with salt water. And then it's time to warm up. That's right. Many dogs catch colds quickly in the back area. What follows is the well-known "water rod". By drying your fur nose with a towel or putting on a bathrobe, such painful problems can be prevented and visits to the veterinarian avoided. By the way, a suitable bathrobe is not only good for your dog's health. Dirt and sand get caught in it and do not end up in your car, hotel room, holiday apartment or home.

Snack healthy

And since a delicious snack is also part of a perfect summer's day, we are presenting our plaice to you this month: The plaice is a source of monoprotein and is therefore ideal for allergy sufferers. It comes from our trusted fish supplier, directly from the Dutch North Sea. By the way, fish is great for our four-legged friends: Because it provides protein and essential fatty acids, which are important for the immune system, brain function and cardiovascular system.

Suitable for any dog who likes to chew and likes fish. However, please never leave your darling unattended with a chew.

You can get really good dog toys and healthy snacks in our online shop

We wish you lots of fun on the water and a great start to summer!
